Whether you call it “Midwife’s Brew” or “Midwives’ Brew” it is a powerful concoction the sends many women straight into labor and delivery within less than 12 hours. Over 5 years ago, I shared my modern day version of this classic labor inducing recipe, and since then, thousands upon thousands of women have used it with great success. Here I will include all of my videos about it, plus details surrounding the Midwife’s Brew. If you have a question about this labor inducing brew you are most likely going to find the answer here.
The very first time I drank the Midwife’s Brew was when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. I was past my due date and my doctor was ready to schedule my medical induction date. After having a horrible experience with Pitocin in a previous medical induction, I was determined to find another way to get my body into labor mode. I knew that castor oil was an option, but it failed me for my first child. So I thought of women who labored before the medical community took over childbirth. There had to be moments when women needed to be induced. What did they use?
It hadn’t been long since I saw a documentary about indigenous people in South America who had never been in contact with the outside world. They lived in and amongst nature. They most likely lived as close to the natural way that humans “should” live. I recalled the women going to a tree that could stop their menstrual cycle for up to 3 or 4 months. The men weren’t allowed to know where this tree was. I found it so interesting, because I personally didn’t know of anything in modern medicine that could casually relieve a woman of her period for a few months. That would be a best seller. Yet there it was in South America. A real thing. A tree. Certainly there must have been something natural that could do the same for women who needed to induce labor.
I came across an old recipe called the Midwife’s Brew, and this is where my story begins…
I searched all over the internet (mainly Youtube) and I couldn’t find many mothers who were openly talking about using the Midwife’s Brew. There were plenty of mothers talking about castor oil, but not as many talking about this brew. I was a little concerned about the fact that it had an essential oil in it as one of the ingredients. Essential oils are so strong and concentrated, so I decided to substitute this ingredient with something else. Then I setup my camera to record my experience just in case it worked. Like finding the magical tree in South America, I knew that this would be it’s own best seller (even though I wasn’t selling it, the information was free). My goal was to help other mothers like myself who were searching for labor inducing experience stories.
Two years later, I was 9 months pregnant with my youngest son. My medical induction date was scheduled for the following Thursday because I was on insulin for my blood sugar levels being too high in pregnancy, despite diet changes. I quickly gathered the ingredients for the Midwife’s Brew and aimed for having an all natural, vaginal birth without an epidural. This time I was finally successful.
I was really on a roll with the Midwife’s Brew. I decided to create a video answering my most frequently asked questions.
I thought my journey and experiences with the Midwife’s Brew were over. It had been a great experience and I loved talking about it with other mothers. Shockingly, I found out I was pregnant with my fourth child. I didn’t know if I would need the Midwife’s Brew again. It would be nice to get to experience the surprise of suddenly and spontaneously going into labor. I wanted one of those movie scenes where the water broke all over the floor and everyone started rushing around me. I didn’t have a spontaneous birth like this, but it was definitely one for the movies because I delivered my daughter in my car during a global pandemic. Parked at a red light with other cars passing by my baby girl couldn’t wait and popped right out. It was my only natural labor where I really didn’t feel much pain. In fact, when she came out it was a wonderful feeling. The Midwife’s Brew did it again.
My baby delivery in the car definitely brought even more interest around the brew. So I began sharing more details about my philosophy and thoughts around the brew. I updated my FAQ to include new questions I received from tons of moms.
Also, I decided to update my recipe for the Midwife’s Brew to make it more detailed about the measurements and combination of the ingredients. I even did something funny where I tricked Jeremy into tasting the Midwife’s Brew. Absolutely hilarious! It’s a must watch just to see his expression when I tell him that he is really drinking a labor inducing brew.
Finally, I wanted to compare the Midwife’s Brew labor inducing to Castor Oil labor inducing since castor oil is an ingredient in the Midwife’s Brew. There seems to be a constant comparison, and it makes a lot of sense. One of the key things to remember is that everyone reactions to things differently.
After these three powerful birth experiences, I am glad that the brew never failed me. I will be forever grateful to this little concoction that safely brought my children out of my body. Each of these videos chronicles an important time in my life. Sharing them with you has really took me back down memories lane. Honestly, I cannot even smell the Midwife’s Brew without immediately remembering the feeling of starting labor.
I hope that these videos gives you a glimpse of what it was like for me to use this brew to go into labor and that your questions are answered.
