One thing that I want to make sure my children can do before entering Kindergarten is read. It opens a whole world of knowledge for them at an early age. Also, it can be a fun bonding experience between mother and baby to learn early reading skills together. Mothers truly are their babies’ first teacher. If you are like me, then you are invested in your child’s education. You want to see them do well and to enjoy the process of learning, even when they face challenges. Setting a good foundation in the beginning is key. I learned about babies being taught how to read starting infancy when I was pregnant with my first child. It has been a joy to share my discoveries since.
After teaching my two year old son basic reading skills, I was eager to start teaching my infant daughter. I was the most consistent with her lessons out of all of my children. She was able to perform basic reading before she was two years old. By the time she was three years old people were asking me questions about her reading skills. How did they get so good? So, I began to share. Since then I had two more little children. Being consistent is by far the hardest challenge of this, especially now with four children. If you are able to be consistent then you can definitely see major results with only 5 minutes a day.
Check out this video where I share how I teach my infant daughter how to learn 20 sight words a month. After showing her a few groups of sight words we move onto letters sounds/phonemes, and rhyming.
Many parents may wonder what it is like to fit in a few sight words when you may already have a busy day. Or maybe you are looking for inspiration on what activities you can include in your day with your baby. Check out this video below of a day in the life with my 6 month old daughter as I try to teach her and help her develop.

Hi! I have a 7 mos old that I would like to get into reading. Where can I find the sight words list that you used to make yours for your baby? Thank you so much for sharing. I’m inspired.
Sign up for the newsletter. I send out a monthly newsletter that has a list of 300 sight words. It sends out this Saturday.
