Trying to describe life as a modern day mom in 3 words is nearly impossible! Upon creating my blog, I found it incredibly difficult to narrow down my content into just 3 simple areas that I would cover. I was detailing my life as a mother in today’s world and that surely covers more than 3 areas. For instance, as a mom there are a lot of subcategories. From parenting tips, such as “How to deal with toddler tantrums,” to “How to teach your baby to read”. One topic is in the area of emotional development and the other is educational. Let’s not forget that we feed our children. So, lunch ideas, and meal prep are something I find great interest in developing and sharing. Then there are multiple stages of parenting: pregnancy, postpartum, toddlerhood, young kid, adolescent and teenager.
As parents, we provide shelter so we must discuss home decor, housekeeping tips and a large variety of playroom setups. Our schedules require organization, and we haven’t even touched what we need to do for ourselves to stay sane and well-rounded individuals. I’m a little out of breath just listing these things, because it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
With that being said, I find it important to create a community of supportive mothers who cheerlead each other to striving towards our goals as parents. Sure, we must speak gently to ourselves because we have a full plate, but that doesn’t mean that we need to lower the bar. At least, that is the type of community I need to get through the day and achieve the goals I wish to accomplish. Imagine if you hired a personal trainer to help you achieve your weight loss goals and every time you missed a workout or felt like giving up the trainer said, “It’s ok.” What a waste of money! You would probably want a trainer who challenges you, and tells you when you are shortchanging yourself. You are capable of getting it done. You will have some setbacks, and you will get up the next morning ready to try again.
This is the type of modern day mom world I hope for my little space on the internet to be. There are enough memes, forums and websites that tell us mom life is hard. We know that. Now what? How can I make it the best hard mom life? How can I thrive in my lifelong role as mother? If you feel me, can I get an “Amen”!
In no way is this an attempt to add pressure to our full lives. It is to address the pressure we already have with full confidence and grace. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, work outside the home mom, or work from home mom, your contributions are so valuable. I celebrate you in each day that you feel happy, productive and strong. I am also here with you as you face challenges that I know you will ultimately overcome. Cheers to the modern day mom.
